 Notify
utility companies of your move and request disconnect and
reconnect. Notify your newspaper carrier. Go to your local
Post Office and complete change of address cards
Take a complete inventory, room by room
and make a list of the items to be moved. Inspect the furniture
for its condition, perhaps even taking photos of valuable
pieces.
If you're packing anything yourself, pack
it room by room and mark the boxes. It's also a good idea
to number the boxes. Make a list for your files.
Valuable items such as furs, jewelry, antiques,
or silverware should be packed by you and moved by you if
possible. If not, be sure to inventory and photograph them.
Be sure the driver of the moving van has
your new address and instructions for finding your new home.
Get the name of the driver and van number, and coordinate
time of arrival.
